McLaren asserted their dominance in the 2025 Formula 1 season with a stunning one-two finish at the Miami International Autodrome, as Oscar Piastri clinched his third consecutive victory, further extending his lead in the World Championship. Teammate Lando Norris secured a strong second place, solidifying McLaren's position as the team to beat.

Piastri, starting from the front row alongside pole-sitter Max Verstappen, wasted no time in challenging the Red Bull driver. After a fierce battle in the opening laps, the young Australian made a decisive move to take the lead on Lap 14 and never looked back, expertly managing the gap to his teammate throughout the remainder of the 57-lap race.

Norris, who had a difficult start dropping several positions after an initial tussle with Verstappen, mounted an impressive recovery drive. The Briton fought his way back through the field, eventually passing Verstappen to secure a valuable second place and complete a perfect day for the Woking-based squad.

George Russell secured the final spot on the podium for Mercedes, albeit a significant distance behind the dominant McLarens. The Brit benefited from a well-timed pit stop under a Virtual Safety Car period to leapfrog both Max Verstappen and his teammate Kimi Antonelli.

Max Verstappen, who started on pole, had a challenging race and finished in fourth place, unable to match the pace of the McLaren cars. This result marks a rare occasion where the pole-sitter in Miami has failed to convert it into a victory.

Further down the order, Alex Albon delivered a stellar performance for Williams, finishing in an impressive fifth place. Kimi Antonelli finished sixth for Mercedes, followed by the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton in seventh and eighth respectively, after some notable team radio discussions regarding strategy. Carlos Sainz secured the final points for Williams in ninth, with Yuki Tsunoda rounding out the top ten for Red Bull.

The Miami Grand Prix also saw several retirements, including Liam Lawson and Jack Doohan who were involved in a first-lap collision, and Oliver Bearman and Gabriel Bortoleto due to mechanical issues.

This commanding performance in Miami underscores McLaren's formidable form and signals a strong challenge for both the Drivers' and Constructors' Championships as the season heads to Europe. Piastri now holds a 16-point advantage over Norris in the driver standings, while McLaren has built a substantial lead in the constructors' battle.
